چکیده

In this work, we face the problem of web service composition, arguing the importance of the inclusion, in a web service description, of the high-level communication protocol used by a service to interact with a client. The work is set in the same multi-agent research area from which DAMLS is derived: reasoning about actions and about the change produced by actions on the world. In this perspective web services are viewed as actions, either simple or complex, characterized by preconditions and effects. In our proposal, interaction is interpreted as the effect of communicative action execution, so that it can be reasoned about.

Reasoning about interaction protocols for customizing web service selection and composition

This work faces the problem of automatic selection and composition of web services, discussing the advantages that derive from the inclusion, in a web service declarative description, of the high-level communication protocol, that is used by the service for interacting with its partners, allowing a rational inspection of it. The approach we propose is set in the Semantic Web field of research a...

Web Service Composition in a Temporal Action Logic

The paper presents an approach to reasoning about web service composition using a temporal action theory. Web services are described by specifying their interaction protocols in an action theory based on a dynamic linear time temporal logic. The proposed framework provides a simple formalization of the communicative actions in terms of their effects and preconditions and the specification of an...

Reasoning About Web Services in a Temporal Action Logic

The paper presents an approach to reasoning about Web services in a temporal action theory. Web services are described by specifying their interaction protocols in an action theory based on a dynamic, linear-time, temporal logic. The proposed framework is based on a social approach to agent communication, where the effects of communicative actions allow changes in the social state, and interact...
